Guernsey Aid continues to go from strength to strength and our 5th birthday celebrations this year have given us a chance to reflect on the work we have done since we started in 2020. By the end of 2025 we will have raised a total of approximately £185,000 in support of 18 different projects addressing basic needs in 9 of the least developed countries around the world.
At the beginning of the year, Dr Nick and Claudine visited 6 of the 15 schools in NE Cambodia where Guernsey Aid has upgraded the WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) facilities including new boreholes, wash stations, water filters and accessible toilets. They then went on to Nepal and spent several days with the two auxiliary nurse midwives at the remote mountain healthpost in Manbu Village where a grant from Guernsey Aid has provided a new ultrasound scanner and other items of much needed equipment. Seeing at first hand the difference that our grants make to the communities involved and the value for money that they represent is always a very rewarding and humbling experience.
Our project summary for 2025 (in addition to the regular contribution we make to the running costs of the Children’s Ward and Special Care Baby Unit at St Francis Hospital in Katete, Zambia) is a follows …
