Spring 2026

The opening of Tep Nimith School in Mondulkiri Province, NE Cambodia

On February 2nd 2026 Dr Nick was present at the opening of the brand new, Guernsey Aid funded school in Tep Nimith village in NE Cambodia which has provided almost 100 local children with access to formal education for the very first time. The project was implemented by United World Schools whose Country Director, Sokha Mok, also attended the ceremony. UWS subsequently forwarded the short video below which tells the story of the project from start to finish.

Water, sanitation and hygiene project at 3 schools in Koh Kong Province, SW Cambodia

On the same trip Nick took the opportunity to visit 2 of the 3 schools near Srae Ambel in Koh Kong Province, SW Cambodia where, again in conjunction with United World Schools, we had installed new bio-sand water filtration systems and wash stations. At both schools (Po Ti Beung and Peam Krop) the new water tanks were producing sufficient water not just for the school children but for the whole village as well!

Afloat on the Tonle Sap Lake in Cambodia with The Lake Clinic

He also spent a week out on the Tonle Sap Lake volunteering with The Lake Clinic which has been a trusted partner of Guernsey Aid for many years. The clinic team are as busy as ever providing a primary healthcare service to the impoverished and isolated families living in the floating villages on the lake and as always it was a privilege to spend time with them and witness at first hand the amazing work they do.

The Jibon Tari Floating hospital (The Ship of Life) in Bangladesh

Before visiting Cambodia, Nick spent a week with Claudine in Bangladesh, where as guests of the Impact Foundation Bangladesh they stayed overnight aboard the Jibon Tari Floating Hospital at anchor on the Shitalakshya River near Dhaka. The Jibon Tari provides screening and surgery, particularly for life-changing conditions such as cataracts, for people who wouldn’t otherwise have access to treatment. Guernsey Aid has sponsored their work on several previous occasions.
