Annual Report 2026

It has been a busy year for Guernsey Aid. Our 2025/26 accounts show that we distributed £74,359 to 6 projects in 5 different countries. We have since secured a single-year grant-aid award of £69,989 from the Guernsey Overseas Aid and Development Commission for a school and community health improvement project in a remote mountain village in Nepal which will be implemented for us over the coming months by our in-country partner PHASE Nepal.

Further details of the work we have done and the projects we are planning to do next year are as follows:

New school build at Namatoa in SW Madagascar

This project which we are doing in conjunction with United World Schools is nearing completion. It will provide brand new school facilities for as many as 816 children in the remote and under-resourced southwest corner of Madagascar. It is the first project we have undertaken in this impoverished and often climate stricken island so we are hoping to visit the school next year to see the difference our funds have made.

Essential medical equipment and supplies for a health clinic and a community hospital in Chin State, Myanmar

A grant to the Waymaker Trust has enabled them to purchase vital medical equipment and supplies for the health clinic they run in a Mara village near the border between Myanmar and India. Another grant to a different charity working in this remote and inaccessible area will help them to equip a brand-new community hospital that they are currently in the process of building.

School and healthcare improvements in the extremely remote village of Bichhiya in Western Nepal

In conjunction with our in-country partner PHASE Nepal we have recently started work on a project to rebuild the classrooms and construct new gender-specific toilet facilities at Bichhiya School in Nepal. We will also be employing two Auxiliary Nurse Midwives to implement a programme of community health initiatives aimed particularly at young women and children.

School repairs including a new roof at Kachere Village primary school in Chinteche District, Malawi

A grant to Ripple Africa will enable them to repair the roof at Kachere Village primary school (near their base at Mwaya Beach) which has been almost entirely destroyed by termites and is structurally unsafe. Our grant will also cover the cost of new resources for the pre-schools and reading clubs they run locally.

Support for the community outreach work being done by ZOP (the Zanzibar Outreach Programme) in Tanzania and TLC (the floating Lake Clinic) in Cambodia

The final two awards for next year will be channelled through the Impact Foundation to support the new community hospital being built by ZOP on Unguja Island, Tanzania and the weekly clinics run by TLC out on the Tone Sap Lake in Cambodia.
